Greg Parsons, Toronto-based publisher who runs a portfolio of travel and reference sites.
What Greg does on this site
- Publishes MontrealCanadian.com and decides which guides to write, expand or retire.
- Edits guides alongside Caleb Parsons, with the same rule for both: details that change, such as Metro hours, the 747 airport bus and market hours, get checked against the official source and linked on the page.
- Sets the site’s policies on editing, privacy and partner links.
- Decides where partner boxes go, and keeps them out of pages where they don’t help readers, such as the cost-of-living and contact pages.
How the guides are written
The guides are planning guides built from official and published sources. They aren’t personal trip reports, and neither editor is presented as a local expert, travel agent or licensed guide. When something can’t be checked, it’s softened or removed rather than guessed. Each guide shows who edited it and when it was last checked or changed, and the date only moves when the content does.
What the site covers
MontrealCanadian.com covers visiting and getting to know Montreal: the neighbourhoods, things to do, food and drink, where to stay, trip planning and itineraries, plus practical guides for people thinking about living in Montreal. The trip tools suggest a neighbourhood and a trip length for readers who want a quick starting point.
Independence
Partners such as Stay22, Viator and GetYourGuide don’t pay for coverage and don’t see pages before they’re published. Commissions from partner links help pay for hosting and the time spent checking pages. They don’t decide what’s recommended.
